Biography

Dr Daniela Irrera (PhD in International Relations, University of Catania) is an Associate Professor of Political Science and IR at the University of Catania. She serves as the IR Deputy at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, University of Catania. She has been a visiting scholar at several universities in Europe, US and Asia. She has been awarded a DAAD Fellowship at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt and a research grant at the European Union Center of Excellence, University of Alberta, Canada. Irrera is part of several research projects funded by the EU under the Jean Monnet Action, Lifelong Learning Programme, and Horizon 2020. She is currently working as a team member of the H2020 TransCrisis project, focusing on ‘Managing the Immigration Crisis’; and is listed as an expert for the EU CIVCAP, a project on Preventing and Responding to Conflict: Developing Civilian Capabilities for a Sustainable Peace. Irrera is the author of three monographs, five edited volumes and more than 40 articles and book chapters about International Relations and EU politics, dealing with global terrorism, transnational organised crime, civil society and humanitarian affairs.
