Biography
Anastas Vangeli is a doctoral researcher at the Graduate School for Social Research at the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) where he recently completed his PhD dissertation titled “Symbolic Power and Principle-Diffusion Through China’s Belt and Road Initiative.” Mr. Vangeli is also an affiliate of the Cross-Regional Research and Training Program (CONSIRT) at PAN and the Ohio State University, a non-resident researcher at the Turin World Affairs Institute (T.wai), and a non-resident fellow with the China-CEE institute in Budapest. He has an extensive publication record on the politics and foreign policy of China and post-socialist Europe, and the interactions between them. Mr. Vangeli’s research has been supported by the ZEIT Stiftung, Open Society Foundations and Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation, among others. Originally from North Macedonia, Mr. Vangeli has a track record of public intellectual engagement and social justice activism in his home country.
