Marija Ristic is an award-winning investigative journalist and regional director of Balkan Investigative Reporting Network, an alliance of non-governmental organisations promoting freedom of speech, human rights and democratic values in South-east and Central Europe. She is in charge of editorial, training, operations and development aspects of the BIRN Network. Ristic is also editor-in-chief of BIRN’s regional publication Balkan Insight, featuring news, investigations, comment and analysis from the region. Her articles appeared also in major local and international media outlets and most recently Ristic was awarded by Reporters without Borders for her leadership and work as an investigative journalists.
Ristic is a graduate of the Geneva Academy for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and a former fellow at the Free University in Berlin. She is currently fellow at Columbia University, New York.
