Biography

Marko Žilović is a doctoral candidate in political science at the George Washington University. He researches right wing political parties and movements from a long-term historical perspective, drawing on the fields of party politics, democratization studies, ethnic politics, and  social movement theory. Marko’s dissertation examines diverging  trajectories of center-right political parties in postcommunist Europe and seeks to answer why over time some of them remain committed to liberal politics while others start to vehemently reject it. He also currently works as a politics and governance consultant for the World Bank Group. Previously, he worked as the Open Society Returning Scholar at the University of Belgrade and was involved in several international research projects on the contemporary politics in the Balkans. Marko holds a master’s degree from the University College London, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Belgrade.
