Biography

Dr. Milan Nič is Senior Fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) where he deals with EU and NATO issues with geographic focus on Central Europe and the Western Balkans. Previously, he was director of an in-house think tank at GLOBSEC in Bratislava (GPI and CEPI), Adviser to the Deputy Foreign Minister of Slovakia (2010-2012), and a consultant for the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2007-2009). He began his professional career as a broadcaster at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, covering the transition period in Central and Eastern Europe including the wars in the former Yugoslavia. He was later an analyst at the European Stability Initiative think tank and program director at the Pontis Foundation. Dr. Nič earned his MPhil from the Charles University in Prague, and his MA from the Central European University in Budapest. He also studied at the Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
