Biography

Tobias Pietz is Deputy Head of the Analysis Division at the Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF) in Berlin. His current focus areas at ZIF are UN-EU-AU peacekeeping partnerships and the missions of the European Union within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP). In 2014, he initiated and facilitated a multi-stakeholder dialogue project on EU-UN Partnerships in Crisis Management and Peace Operations during the Italian EU Presidency. From 2003 to 2006, he was a senior researcher at the Bonn International Centre for Conversion (BICC), mainly focusing on the topics of Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) and Small Arms Control. From 2007 to 2009, he managed a project at ZIF funded by the German Foundation for Peace Research (DSF) on local ownership in peace operations of the international community in Liberia and Kosovo.
