In the key note speech held at the closing ceremony of the 5th BSF, the Prime Minister of Serbia, H.E. Aleksandar Vučić thanked the Forum for its dedicated work and reflected upon the topic of the Forum.

Regarding the main topic of Belgrade Security Forum, Can Europe Redefine Itself, Vučić stressed that the answer was an easy one, the hard part is to achieve it. It is clear that from day to day there are new events influencing Europe on many levels. Migrant crisis is an example which revealed the existing differences and weaknesses within. Europe could not find the comprehensive solution to this crisis and it seems that Europe’s countries have their own approaches toward these questions along with an obvious absence of integrated strategy. Mr. Vučić underlined the importance of countries not acting based only on their interest.

He also has pointed out that it is of extreme importance that Europe demonstrated strong and united leadership headed by Merkel, Tusk and Juncker, and if that didn’t happen, there were going to be many possibilities for destabilization.

On the other hand, he said that this crisis had shown that Europe still was the most prosperous continent which, thanks to its values, was a place where people did really want to live.

Prime Minister has also mentioned Serbian role by saying that it represent a good example on how to deal and treat refugees and migrants. “This is an approach that other European countries could use, of course if there is a common strategy previously adopted.”

Vučić concluded that Serbia, although a small country, represents a very important actor for the EU, and especially the region.
